Access may be limited during high tide, officials warn.

WESTPORT, CT -- Access to the Saugatuck Shores section of Westport may be limited today, April 1, during during high tide at about 3:30 p.m., warn Westport police.
"Individuals who plan on traveling in or out of the Saugatuck Shores section of town are advised that there may be limited access during today’s high tide," wrote Sgt. David Wolf in a statement. "Today’s high tide will be at 3:30 p.m. The bridge spanning Harbor Road is in the process of being replaced, and therefore the only way to access the Island is via Canal Road. It is expected that Canal Road will flood during today’s high tide due to an 'astronomical high tide' and heavy winds."
People are urged to refrain from driving on Canal Road if water is covering the roadway, and call 911 immediately if your vehicle becomes disabled in flood waters.
