Levine was a former board chair of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.

WESTPORT, CT — Harold Levine, a renowned retired advertising executive and patron of the arts, died on Thursday at his home in Westport, reports Westport Now. He was 95.

He founded the famous advertising agency Levine, Huntley, Schmidt, & Beaver, and he served as board chair of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, among other artistic pursuits.

“It was with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Westporter Harold Levine," wrote Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe in a statement. "A world-renowned, retired advertising executive and former board chair of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Harold was a longtime supporter of the arts. After his retirement, he channeled his support and interests to many causes, including his championing of the Neighborhood Studios. This program provides exposure to the visual and performing arts to students in the Bridgeport area; students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience and pursue the arts in their everyday lives. His passion and commitment to Neighborhood Studios encouraged a multitude of young people to pursue their talents in the arts. His support of this program and to the arts in general are among the hallmarks of his legacy to both Westport and the surrounding communities. I am confident it will remain his legacy for generations to come.
