Riverside Avenue Construction Detours Announced In Westport

WESTPORT, CT — Construction work, as part of the Riverside Avenue improvement project, is scheduled to take place this weekend and into Thanksgiving week, according to town officials.

In a news release, Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich said traffic patterns in town will again be modified to facilitate demolition of concrete roadway and reconstruction of the pavement.

Beginning Friday, traffic on Riverside Avenue between Bridge Street and Saugatuck Avenue will be closed to all but businesses and residents within the limits of construction. All traffic will be directed around the site using Saugatuck Avenue and Charles Street.

The closure will continue through Nov. 23, however all dates and times are approximate and subject to weather conditions, Ratkiewich said.

Drivers are advised to use additional caution, allow extra travel time and obey all detour and safety signals, Ratkiewich said.
