Sewer Extension Considered For Westport Neighborhood

An informational meeting has been scheduled for March 23.

WESTPORT, CT — Town officials are considering construction of a sewer extension to serve Clinton Avenue and surrounding side streets in Westport, according to a flyer obtained by Patch that was mailed to residents of that area this week.

The other streets that would also be served by the sewer extension are Fillow Street, Sniffen Road, Loren Lane, Stone Drive, Calumet Road, Richmondville Avenue and Breezy Knoll.

"Please be advised that the Town of Westport Public Works Department will be holding a public informational meeting regarding the proposed sanitary sewer extension to service the above mentioned area," wrote town officials. "The intention of this meeting is to update the residents of the area on the progress of aforementioned project and to allow residents to ask questions that they may have relative to the proposed project."

The meeting was initially scheduled for March 15 in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium, but it has been rescheduled. It will now be held on Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the same location. It is expected to last for about an hour.

Within the past two years, a natural gas line was installed along a portion of nearby Oak Street, which runs parallel to Sniffen Road. That project was constructed by Eversource, but the town's flyer makes no mention of its proposal possibly including a gas line extension.
