St.Luke's School & Inspirica Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary

$25K Raised for One Step Closer to Home

On Sunday, Oct. 9, St. Luke’s and Inspirica, long-standing community partners, hosted the annual One Step Closer to Home Walkathon. Each year, the St. Luke’s community joins together to participate in a 5K walk to raise awareness and funds to help those experiencing homelessness in our area.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of this beloved community event. The morning began with remarks by St. Luke’s Director of the Center for Leadership Kate Parker-Burgard and Inspirica CEO Denise Williams. During the opening remarks, St. Luke’s senior Samantha Stevelman was presented with Inspirica’s Youth Volunteer Recognition Award for her years of dedicated service with the organization.

Meeting at the Inspirica office on Franklin St., students, parents/guardians, siblings, and pets joined together to walk the streets of Stamford in support of those experiencing homelessness. Participants held signs that shared the impact of Inspirica’s work, which solicited waves and honks of support from cars and passersby. The 5K wrapped up back at Inspirica’s office with free sno-cones, compliments of Kona Ice Truck.
