St. Luke's Students Make Blankets for Children with Cancer
Nonprofit, Circle of Care, prepares to distribute the blankets to kids in the hospital.

St. Luke’s students volunteered after school on Friday, April 1, to make cozy blankets for children with cancer.
The students gathered in the Forese Family Fireplace Commons to create soft, warm, comforting blankets for the children using a no-sew tying approach that anyone could participate in. The event was organized by St. Luke’s parent Lisa Hill '12, ’27, who is actively involved with the organization. Zelie Pforzheimer, a Circle of Care board member, joined the students to share some insights about the program and why the blankets are important, “When a child learns they have cancer, they often have to go straight to the hospital without even going home first.” The blankets St. Luke’s students made will be included in care bags that are distributed to children when they arrive at the hospital.

“Making the blankets was a great experience,” said Maeve Welch ‘26. “I loved hearing the story of the charity, and I think it's a great cause." Madeline Levin ‘26 added, “This was a fun activity for a good cause; it was so gratifying to do something that makes a difference and puts a smile on someone's face.”
