Staples Boys Hockey Falls To Ridgefield
Wreckers keep it close before surrendering four unanswered goals in the third period
Through two periods Saturday, the Staples boys hockey team was competitive against one of the FCIAC's toughest squads.
However, the Wreckers surrendered four goals in the third period and suffered a 6-1 defeat to Ridgefield at the Winter Garden Arena.
Ridgefield won its sixth straight game, improving to 8-1 in the FCIAC and 12-3 overall. The Wreckers dropped 4-4 and 10-5.

Ridgefield's Sean Wilkinson scored the first goal of the game at 8:51 of the first period while the Tigers were shorthanded.
Ridgefield sophomore Chris Morrow scored the eventual game-winner and his first varsity goal at 5:12 of the second period, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead after two. Early in the third, Wilkinson scored again to make it 3-0.

Two minutes later, Staples finally got on the board as captain Kyle Wehmhoff gathered a loose puck on the side of the net and beat Tigers goaltender Nate Gliedman with a wraparound.
Jack Christensen, Callan McCormick and Matt Flanagan completed the scoring for Ridgefield.
