Staples Boys Place 15th In State Open Track Meet
Wreckers boys win 4x400 meter, Joselyn Henry has two top-10 finishes for the girls.
The Staples boys finished 15th and the girls placed 16th in the state open track and field competition Monday at New Britain's Willowbrook Park.
In the boys' competition, the Wreckers won the 4x400 meter relay. The team, comprised of junior John Roche, junior Sean Gallagher, junior Raphael Ray, junior Jonathan Heil, sophomore Dean Hefnawy and junior Jefferson Caffery, won the race with a time of 3:21.66 - nearly two seconds ahead of East Catholic.
Ray (sixth) and Heil (seventh) had top-10 finishes in the 400 meters with times of 49.62 and 50.70, respectively.

On the women's side, senior Joselyn Henry posted top-10 finishes in a pair of field events. She was seventh in the discus (110' 9") and third in the shot put (39' 8").
Also, Lexie Schachne finished in the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet even.
