Staples Boys Soccer Rolls Over Harding
Wreckers rout Presidents, 6-0, for fifth straight victory
The Staples boys' soccer team cruised to its fifth straight win Wednesday afternoon with a 6-0 victory over Harding at Loeffler Field.
Steve Smith, Max Hoberman and sophomore Lorenz Esposito tallied in the first half to give Wreckers a 3-0 halftime lead. The three goals came less than six minutes apart.
Two other sophomores provided the offense in the second half. Defender Harry Birch made it 4-0 early in the second half before Dylan Hoy completed the scoring with a pair of goals.

It was the third straight shutout for the Wreckers, who were down four starters. Harding, however, had only 12 players in uniform.
Staples (6-2) used three goaltenders -- James Hickok, Connor Walsh and Sean Gallagher - and none of them needed to make a save.

Harding, which dropped to 0-8, has been outscored by a combined margin of 52-1 this season.
The six goals were a season high for the Wreckers, who play at Westhill on Friday (4:00 p.m.). It will be their third game in five days.
