Staples Boys Win New England Cross Country Championship

NORTH SCITUATE, RI — Staples High School packed five runners into the top 40, including a pair of top 20 finishers, to capture the boys team title at the New England Cross Country Championships Saturday at Ponaganset High School.

The Wreckers, who finished a distant third a year ago, compiled 72 points to handily outdistance defending champion La Salle Academy of Rhode Island, which had 103.

Connecticut State Open champion Zakeer Ahmad led Staples by placing third, followed by Benjamin Seiple (17th), William Londowne (27th), Sunil Green (29th) and Christian Myers (39th).
