Staples' Hennessy Named FCIAC Player Of The Year
Wreckers' second baseman batted .530 during the regular season

Chalk up another honor for three-sport star Jack Hennessy, who will remembered as one of the most versatile athletes to ever play sports at Staples High School.
The Wreckers' speedy second baseman has been named the FCIAC baseball Player of the Year. The announcement was made before Thursday's FCIAC championship game between Fairfield Ludlowe and Greenwich.
During the regular season, Hennessy batted .530 with 35 hits and a .592 on-base percentage. He also stole 22 bases while surpassing the century mark in career hits.

Two other Staples' players were named to the first team - catcher Grant Moss and catcher David Speer, who was 6-0 in the regular season.
Speer suffered a 7-4 loss to Westhill in the quartefinals of the FCIAC playoffs on Monday, denying the Wreckers a shot at a third straight league title.

Last month, Hennessy was named Staples' male representative in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) honors program.
Award winners must exhibit exemplary athletic and academic careers; personal standards and achievements that are models for others, and high levels of integrity, self-discovery and courage.
Hennessy, an 11-time varsity letter winner and three-year varsity soccer starter, helped lead the Wreckers to one state and two FCIAC soccer championships.
A starter on the baseball club since his freshman season, he was the MVP of last year's FCIAC tournament and also won numerous indoor track titles. Last month, he announced he will be attending Boston College to run track.
