Staples High School Principal John Dodig Announces Retirement

Dodig has been principal of the school for 11 years.

John Dodig, the 70-year-old principal of Staples High School, announced Monday that he is stepping down from the job as of the end of the school year, the Westport News reported.

Dodig announced the resignation in a message to school staff, then in a letter to Staples students and parents. He has been principal of the school for the past 11 years. Previously he was a high school headmaster in Fairfield Public Schools, according to the newspaper.

At Monday’s Westport Board of Education meeting, schools Superintendent Elliot Landon said it was sad to hear that Dodig was leaving. Students love him and parents have confidence in him, Landon said, according to the report.
