Staples High School Runners Qualify for State Open

MANCHESTER, CT — Staples High School will be represented in both races at the State Open cross country championships this Friday at Wickham Park in Manchester.

At the Class LL meet Saturday, also at Wickham Park, the boys team placed first with 46 points to 83 for runnerup Danbury. Zakeer Ahmad was the overall winner, finishing the hilly 3.1 mile course with the day's best time of 15:49.

The girls team also qualified, placing third.
