Staples Musicians Selected for CMEA All-State Music Festival

The seven students were selected to participate in the canceled Connecticut Music Educators Association event this month.

Press release from Westport Public Schools: Seven students from the Staples High School Music Department were selected to participate in the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Concert April 2-4 in Hartford, CT. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the festival was canceled.

Each school year, CMEA hosts regional concerts that highlight students’ advanced achievements in music performance. In March, CMEA was to hold a state-wide in-service conference for music educators which was to conclude with an All-State ensemble performance by high school students. Students would have been selected and placed in ensembles as a result of a rigorous audition process. The groups were to rehearse for three days with internationally-recognized conductors.

Chorus; Janna Moore, bass, All-State Orchestra; Samantha Taylor, trombone, All- State Band;
Neha Nevrange, viola, All-State Orchestra; Zachary Bishop, viola, All-State Orchestra; Will
DeRocco, viola, All-State Orchestra; James Holmes, percussion, All-State Band.
