HARTFORD, CT — Entering the Class LL girls soccer championship game Saturday at Dillon Stadium, FCIAC rivals Wilton and Staples had experienced opposite degrees of success in previous state tournament appearances. Wilton had won the title in 11 of 14 previous appearances, while the Wreckers had but a lone championship to their credit, that coming 32 years ago.

After 80 minutes of regulation play and a pair of 15-minute overtime sessions, neither squad had dented the scoreboard. By CIAC policy, the teams were declared co-champions.
