Suspect Accused Of Stealing $4,700 Worth Of Allergy Medicine From Pharmacy In Westport: Police

The suspect is accused of hitting the same store on multiple occasions in 2023, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — A 44-year-old Woodside, New York man is facing two counts of larceny after Westport police said he stole nearly $5,000 worth of allergy medication on separate occasions from the Walgreens pharmacy at 880 Post Road East in Westport.

Demetrius Mariakakis was charged on a warrant with third-degree larceny in connection with the theft of about $2,700 worth of the medicines in August 2023.

Mariakakis was also charged on a warrant with fourth-degree larceny in connection with a similar theft at the store of about $2,000 worth of the medication in December 2023.

In all, Mariakakis and others hit the same store on multiple occasions, according to Westport police.

Authorities discovered that Mariakakis was incarcerated on an unrelated matter in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New York, and he was extradited to Westport on Monday, where he was arrested.

Mariakakis is being held in lieu of bail of $40,000 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 6.
