Suspect Accused Of Stealing ATM From Westport Gas Station: Police
The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Feb. 22.

WESTPORT, CT — A 22-year-old New Britain man was arrested this month by Westport police in connection with a February theft of an ATM from the Wheels gas station at 786 Post Road East in Westport, according to authorities.
Ethan Nieves was arrested on a warrant at Stamford Superior Court on July 17, where he was appearing on unrelated charges.
He was charged by Westport police with the following:

- Burglary, 3rd degree
- Conspiracy to commit burglary, 3rd degree
- Criminal mischief, 1st degree
- Conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, 1st degree
- Larceny, 3rd degree
- Conspiracy to commit larceny, 3rd degree
According to police, the incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on Feb. 22, when a burglary was reported at the gas station.
"The responding officer located the front door of the business was propped open and the ATM machine was missing," wrote Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "An investigation ensued and through the use of surveillance cameras, Law Enforcement sharing, search warrants, and digital forensic evidence, Ethan Nieves was identified a suspect in this case."

Woods told Patch that the ATM was recovered later that same day, and it contained $3,000.
Nieves is being held in lieu of bail of $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 23.
