Suspect Arrested After Crashing Stolen BMW In Westport: Police

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon on the Merritt Parkway.

WESTPORT, CT — An 18-year-old Waterbury man was arrested on a host of felony charges Sunday in connection with a stolen BMW out of Greenwich that he crashed on the Merritt Parkway in Westport.

The suspect and two accomplices fled from the vehicle, following the 1:20 p.m. crash northbound near the Clinton Avenue overpass, but the two accomplices were not caught.

Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods told Patch that two people were found on the Merritt Parkway later that evening, but they denied any involvement in the crash and stolen vehicle; their information was turned over to Connecticut State Police for further investigation.

The suspect who was arrested is Keon Webster, who suffered minor injuries in the crash. State police charged him with the following:

  • Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
  • Interfering With an Officer/Resisting
  • Evading Responsibility – Resulting in Injury
  • Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree
  • Failure to Drive in Proper Lane
  • Operating Without a License

Following the crash, Connecticut State Police, Westport police and Norwalk police used drones and K9s to search the area.

Westport police separately arrested Webster on a warrant in connection with a stolen Mercedes-Benz in Westport from July.

According to Woods, surveillance video showed Webster was one of the suspects involved in the theft of the unlocked Mercedes from an open garage.

Webster, who is free on bond, is scheduled to appear in court in September.
