Suspect Arrested On A Warrant In Westport Shoplifting Case: Police

The suspect is accused of stealing items from Ulta Beauty on the Post Road East.

WESTPORT, CT — A 20-year-old New York City woman was arrested on a warrant this week in connection with a shoplifting case from February at Ulta Beauty on the Post Road East, according to Westport police.

Catherine Sanoja was charged on Monday with second-degree larceny, organized retail theft of $10,000, and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.

The incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 14, when the store reported a shoplifting. Before officers arrived at the scene, store employees said the suspects had fled in a white Hyundai.

"An officer on patrol located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but it fled south on I-95," Westport police wrote in a release. "The investigating officer secured surveillance footage and forwarded the information to the Detective Bureau. Through the use of Law Enforcement information sharing, Catherine Sanoja was identified as a suspect."

A warrant was obtained for Sanoja's arrest, and on Monday, she was picked up at the Westchester County Correctional Center and transported back to Westport Police Headquarters.

Sanoja is being held in lieu of bail of $50,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 8.
