Suspect In Pharmacy Robbery In Westport Reportedly Sentenced To Prison

The suspect and another person robbed the pharmacy by threatening staffers with a syringe, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — One of the suspects from a 2020 robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in Westport was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, reported The Hour.

New Haven resident Amy Kiernan, 44, who has 10 other criminal cases pending in Connecticut, was sentenced last week by Superior Court Judge Gary White in Stamford.

The other suspect in the case, Bridgeport resident Shaun Costello, 40, was sentenced in the fall of 2021 to four years in prison, according to the state Department of Correction website.

Both had been arrested on warrants in December 2020, and were accused of robbing the drug store of about $900 worth of merchandise in September of that year.

"Staff reported that a male and female had entered the store and begun filling reusable shopping bags with merchandise," Westport police said in a statement at the time of their arrests. "The two did not pay for any of this merchandise and began to walk toward the store’s exit. When questioned by a staff member prior to exiting, the male clenched his fist stating that he had a syringe which he would stab staff with. The two then fled in a waiting vehicle."

Both Kiernan and Costello pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery.
