BRIDGEPORT, CT — Ellis Tibere, the Guilford teen accused of stabbing a woman in a Westport parking lot in January, has been released from Whiting Forensic Hospital in Middletown where he had been undergoing psychiatric evaluation and treatment, writes the Connecticut Post.
Tibere was released to the custody of his parents on Wednesday, after they posted bond on bail of $1 million. A Whiting psychologist reportedly convinced a judge that Tibere does not pose a threat requiring keeping him at the facility.
He will be under house arrest and must wear a GPS monitoring device. Tibere's next scheduled court appearance is July 8. Prior to his voluntary three-month stay at Whiting, Tibere was deemed competent to stand trial.

Westport police charged Tibere with attempted murder in connection with the Jan. 6 incident, in which authorities said that Tibere, while wearing a mask, attacked and stabbed a 33-year-old Greenwich woman as she got into car in the parking lot of a hair salon on the Post Road East. The victim survived by suffered serious leg wounds.
He was captured by police a short while later on the Sherwood Island Connector in Westport, but authorities said he told them that he had harbored thoughts about killing a person for several years. He also told police that he had broken into two Westport homes before the January incident with the intent of killing the occupants.
