Teacher Accused Of Touching Student Inappropriately: Westport Police
Police said a Bedford Middle School teacher accused of touching a student inappropriately during class was arrested this week.

WESTPORT, CT — A Bedford Middle School teacher accused of touching a student inappropriately last year was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Dave Wolf said a student reported the incident on Jan. 27, 2022. The teacher was identified as Arthur Ellis, 72, of Westerly, R.I.
According to Wolf, the student told police they had Ellis for a class and the alleged inappropriate touching occurred in December 2021 during class time.

In response, police launched an extensive investigation and, based on the results, obtained a warrant for Ellis' arrest, Wolf said.
Ellis turned himself in Wednesday afternoon at the Westport Police Department. Per the warrant, he was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.

Ellis was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court next month, Wolf said.
