Teen Accused Of Stealing Pickup Truck From Westport Driveway: Police
The truck was stolen and recovered in March, according to Westport police.
WESTPORT, CT — An 18-year-old Stamford man was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree larceny this week in connection with the March 15 theft of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from the driveway of a home in Westport, according to police.
DeMarcus Bennett, who surrendered to Westport police on Tuesday, was additionally charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny in the case.
According to police, the pickup truck was recovered in Stamford the day after the theft, and authorities found a cell phone inside.

"Given that the investigating detective believed that the phone belonged to someone involved in the theft, a search warrant was completed to examine the contents of the phone," police said in a statement. "Based on the results of that examination, DeMarcus Bennett was developed as a suspect. Additional evidence tying him to the crime was obtained."
Bennett was held in lieu of bail of $20,000, and he was scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
