Title I Screening In Westport Public Schools Scheduled For June
The screening identifies preschool children who are "at risk" for learning under the Federal and Local Title I eligibility criteria.
Information from Westport Public Schools:
WESTPORT, CT — Westport Public Schools will be conducting a screening to identify preschool children who are “at risk” for learning under the Federal and Local Title I eligibility criteria. Children who have had limited opportunities for exposure to a structured preschool curriculum to prepare them for elementary school are considered “at risk”. “At risk” also includes the following: a child who has limited English proficiency, a family that is financially unable to access a structured preschool, as well as a child who is “at risk” for developmental delays. If a child qualifies for a Title I slot, the child may be eligible to participate in the Stepping Stones Preschool for the upcoming school year, at no cost.
The screening is conducted by Stepping Stones Preschool staff members. The team will look at a child’s concepts, language, motor, self help and social emotional skills.
