Traffic Advisory Issued For Downtown Westport For Saturday's No Kings Protest

The third No Kings protest is scheduled for Saturday in Westport and across the country, according to organizers.

WESTPORT, CT — With the third No Kings protest scheduled for Saturday in Westport, motorists are being advised to consider taking alternate routes to avoid the downtown area between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

"At minimum, motorists should anticipate significant traffic delays, with the potential for road closures and associated detours," wrote Westport Police Capt. Jillian Cabana in a statement. "It is therefore suggested that travelers seek alternate routes around the downtown area or simply avoid the vicinity if feasible."

Saturday's planned No Kings protest in Westport, billed as A Festival for Democracy, is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. at Jesup Green. Last year, similar No Kings protests were held in Westport in June and October.

In addition to Jesup Green, protesters are expected to also gather along Route 1 at the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge on Saturday.

"Those driving to or through the locality of these demonstrations during this timeframe are asked to be patient, cautious and mindful of what is anticipated to be extremely heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic," Cabana said.
