Trio Arrested On Shoplifting Charges In Westport: Police

The three are accused of stealing clothing from the Lululemon store on Main Street, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — Three women were arrested on felony larceny charges last week, after Westport police said they shoplifted thousands of dollars worth of clothing from the Lululemon store on Main Street in downtown Westport.

Amani Dye, 22, of Jamaica, New York; Destiny Gantt, 21, also of Jamaica, NY; and Saphire Vasquez, 21, of Bushkill, Pennsylvania were charged with third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, following the Thursday incident.

In Connecticut, third-degree larceny is the theft of items or services between $2,000 and $10,000.

According to Westport police, the department was notified at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 of a shoplifting in progress at the store.

"The complainant provided to dispatch, a description of the suspects as well as a suspect vehicle to include the registration plate," wrote Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "While officers were responding to the business to take a report, the vehicle was located and stopped on Riverside Avenue. The vehicle contained obvious evidence of the crime to include clothing with tags still affixed and three suspects who were later positively identified by witnesses."

All three suspects, Dye, Gantt and Vasquez, were taken into custody and charged. They were released after posting $2,500 bonds each, and are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 26.
