Truck Strikes Overpass, Rolls Over On I-95 In Westport: FD
The state Department of Transportation also responded to the incident to assess the damage to the bridge.

WESTPORT, CT — Fire officials said a truck rolled over on Interstate 95 Tuesday afternoon after striking an overpass in Westport. According to a press release, firefighters were called to the scene between exits 17 and 18 at 12:41 p.m.
Officials said the incident occurred after a dumpster truck left its hoist in the raised position, causing it to strike the Hillspoint Road overpass and roll over.
The driver was able to free himself from the vehicle and was subsequently treated by Westport EMS and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

"Firefighters found a hydraulic fluid leak that could not be stopped," Assistant Chief Jeff Gootman said in a release. "Firefighters applied speedy dry, hazmat pads and hazmat booms to contain the spill. Additionally, it was determined that the vehicle was powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Firefighters successfully shut down the CNG fuel system and determined there was no leak."
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) also responded to the area to coordinate and oversee the hazardous materials clean up.

The state Department of Transportation responded to assess the damage to the bridge and determined the bridge could remain open, Gootman said. State Police assisted with traffic control.
