Vehicle Hits, Damages Westport Pizzeria: Police
Outpost Pizza in Westport will be closed for at least two weeks following a motor vehicle accident that significantly damaged the building.

WESTPORT, CT — A Westport pizzeria was significantly damaged after a vehicle struck the building early Sunday morning and will be closed for at least two weeks, according to police.
Police Lt. Dave Wolf said the incident occurred at Outpost Pizza on Main Street around 3 a.m., after which the driver and two passengers were taken to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
Wolf confirmed the vehicle struck the building but noted he was unsure if it was actually inside the structure at any point.

The Westport Fire Department and Assistant Building Official Peter Howard later assessed the damage, which Wolf said appeared to be extensive. The accident is still under investigation, Wolf said.
Howard said the building's damage was "substantial but repairable."

"There was substantial damage to the corner of the building caused by a pickup truck," Howard said to Patch. "There was an accident, and the pickup truck ran into the corner of the building."
While he noted he was unsure what it might cost to repair the damages, Howard said the building could in theory be ready to reopen in a few weeks.
Howard said the town building department's assessment of the property has been completed and the department is working with the contractor hired to repair the damage.
Outpost Pizza also has a location on West Avenue in Stamford. As of Tuesday, the pizzeria's website indicates the Westport location is temporarily closed.
A post on the pizzeria's Instagram account Monday also indicated the Westport shop was closed "due to the unfortunate circumstances."
According to the post, the Westport location is currently under construction and plans to reopen in two weeks.
"We appreciate the support the town of Westport has given us," the post reads, also noting the team was eager to reopen and continue "serving the best pizza in the area."
