Vehicle Plows into Storefront in Westport

The crash occurred Thursday afternoon in the Compo Shopping Center on the Post Road East.

WESTPORT, CT — An SUV jumped a curb and slammed into an unoccupied storefront on the Post Road East Thursday, according to fire officials.

The crash at 425 Post Road East, in the Compo Shopping Center, occurred at about 4:30 p.m.

"The two occupants of the vehicle were out of the vehicle and were uninjured," wrote Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows in a statement. "Crews from Rescue 3 and Engine 5 stabilized the vehicle in place and inspected the integrity of the building."

A Westport Building Department representative also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The vehicle was removed from the building and the scene was turned over to the property manager to make repairs, according to Meadows.

A Westport police spokesperson told Patch that the driver was not facing any charges in connection with the crash.
