The Watermark at 3030 Park Encourages Residents to Commit to Fitness by Competing in a Kentucky Derby - Style Race
The Kentucky Derby Fitness Challenge begins at the end of the month and will run for six weeks

In honor of National Senior Health and Fitness Day (May 25) The Watermark at 3030 Park, a continuing care retirement community in Bridgeport, will be hosting a Kentucky Derby-style race for residents and members of its fitness club.
The initiative, led by Fitness Director Cindy McGuire, challenges participants to exercise at least three times per week for six weeks in order to move their horse around the track constructed by residents at the community (see below for photo).
Winners will be announced once the competition ends.

“In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it is crucial that you remain active and engage in regular physical activity,” said McGuire, “We thought incorporating the Kentucky Derby would be a great way to engage our residents and fitness club members in a little friendly competition, while continuing to encourage them to commit to a steady exercise regime.”
National Senior Health and Fitness Day is the largest annual health promotion for older adults in the United States. 2016 marks the 23rd year that the day has been celebrated, encouraging older Americans to stay fit and healthy. According to the day’s official website, this year 100,000 older Americans will participate in events at more than 1,000 locations throughout the U.S.
