Weapons Arrest In Westport After Police Find Nun Chucks In Vehicle

WESTPORT, CT — A 40-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested by Westport police last week after officers found nun chucks in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

The incident began at about 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 12 in the 300 block of the Post Road East when officers pulled over the suspect on a license plate violation, and the driver also reportedly admitted that his license was currently suspended and that the car he was not registered.

"Additionally, the officer observed drug paraphernalia in plain view," Westport police said in a statement. "A search of the car yielded additional paraphernalia as well as a pair of homemade nun chucks."

Police charged the man with the following misdemeanors:

  • Weapons in Vehicles
  • Misuse of a License Plate
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension
  • Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Display License Plates
  • Failure to Wear Seatbelt in the Front Seat

The suspect was released after posting a $500 bond, and is due in court on Nov. 23. Two other people in the vehicle were also arrested on outstanding warrants for failure to appear, but neither was charged in connection with the Westport incident.
