The 13-3 defeat drops Westport American into the losers bracket in the District Two Little League tournament
Westport American was defeated by powerful Fairfield American, 13-3, Monday in the semifinals of the District Two Little League tournament at Bridgeport's Blackham School.
The contest was halted in the fourth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Westport American, the runner-up in the "Red" group, drops into the losers bracket and plays again on Tuesday (5:30 p.m., Blackham School) against Fairfield National in an elimination game.

Monroe surprised Fairfield National, the top seed in the "Red" group, 6-3, in Monday's other semifinals.
If Westport American wins Tuesday, it will play again on Friday against the loser of the game between Fairfield American and Monroe.

Fairfield American, which is now the only unbeaten team left in the tournament, and Monroe meet in the winners bracket final on Tuesday.
The winner of the District Two tourney advances to the Connecticut state sectionals, which get under way next week in Shelton.
