Westport Announces Establishment Of Real Property Committee

New appointments to the Westport Housing Authority and Pension Committees have also been announced.

From the Town of Westport: First Selectman Jim Marpe announced that he has established the Real Property Committee for the Town of Westport. The appointed committee members, residents Helen Garten, Marty Fox and Iain Bruce, shall act as the First Selectman’s advisors with respect to the purchases, leases, other acquisition and/or disposition of real property for open space, recreational uses, municipal facilities, public rights of way, conservation and investment.

Mr. Marpe stated, “The Real Property Committee will expand on the mission of the Land Acquisition Committee which was established by former First Selectwoman Diane Farrell in the 1990s. The Real Property Committee members will review and keep abreast of the current real estate market, as well as investigate opportunities and options that may be presented to boards and commissions for possible action, which will ultimately benefit the Town. I am confident that Helen, Marty and Iain possess the dedication and expertise that will inform these types of transactions going forward.”

Mr. Marpe also announced that Westport resident Tom Bloch has been appointed to the Westport Housing Authority Board, filling the vacancy left by Charles Carey, who was elected to the Representative Town Meeting.
