Westport Announces Riverside Avenue Construction Detours

WESTPORT, CT — Traffic patterns in town will be modified this week to facilitate demolition of concrete roadway and reconstruction of pavement as part of the Riverside Avenue improvement project.

In a news release Monday, Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich said traffic on Riverside Avenue between Bridge Street and Saugatuck Avenue will be restricted to northbound vehicles only beginning Tuesday. All southbound traffic will be directed down Saugatuck Avenue to Charles Street.

The road section will be closed to all but local traffic Thursday and Friday when paving is expected to take place. All other traffic will be detoured around Charles Street and Saugatuck Avenue.

All dates and times are approximate and subject to weather conditions, Ratkiewich said.

Drivers are advised to use additional caution, allow extra travel time and obey all detour and safety signals, Ratkiewich said.
