Westport Appoints New Planning and Zoning Director

Steven Palmer is coming back to Westport as a zoning official.

WESTPORT, CT- First Selectman Jim Marpe has appointed Steven Palmer as the new Planning and Zoning Director.

Palmer will start the position April 1 and will replace Larry Bradley who resigned in February.

Palmer served as the director of Bethel's Planning and Zoning Department since 2003. Before tat he was an enforcement official for Westport between 1990 and 2002.

“I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to help guide and shape the future of such a dynamic town and in such a way that Westport will always be a vibrant place to work, enjoy and call home," Palmer said. "I’m looking forward to working with the staff, the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals as well as applicants to address key issues for the Department and the Westport community.”

Marpe said Palmer has an impressive background and work history and comes with high recommendations. He also thanked the search committee for their diligent work in assessing applicants.
