Westport Book Shop Features Gregg Ziebell Paintings In August Exhibition

WESTPORT, CT — Local artist Gregg Ziebell is the featured guest exhibitor for August at the Westport Book Shop's Drew Friedman Art Place gallery.

The exhibition includes original oil paintings by Ziebell, featuring still lifes, landscapes and seascapes. His work is described as Contemporary Impressionism.

"Life is my inspiration," Ziebell said in a statement. "I begin with what I see in the world around me, then weave my emotions into each work. This creates an impressionistic style designed not only to capture a moment, but also to evoke an emotional response. My greatest joy is knowing that the emotions I feel while creating can be experienced by others through my art."

Ziebell earned a degree in fine arts from the University of Cincinnati and studied advertising, layout and design at the GSAA Commercial School of Art. He also has taken classes and workshops at the Silvermine Arts Guild in Connecticut.

After a career as a graphic designer specializing in fashion layout and design, Ziebell now focuses on painting. He is a member of The Artists Collective of Westport, and his work has been exhibited at venues throughout Fairfield County, including The Westport Library, Weston Library, Beachwood Arts Center, the Lockwood-Matthews Mansion Museum and the Redding Library.

The Westport Book Shop will host an artist reception from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 13. Space is limited, and attendees are asked to RSVP by calling 203-349-5141 or emailing RSVP@westportbooksaleventures.org.

The exhibition will remain on display through Aug. 31. Artwork is available for purchase, and additional works can be viewed at greggziebell.com.

The gallery is open during the Westport Book Shop's regular business hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Westport Book Shop is located at 23 Jesup Road. The nonprofit used bookstore offers used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs and DVDs. It provides employment and job training for adults with special needs while raising funds to support The Westport Library.

The Drew Friedman Art Place is a gallery space within the bookstore featuring rotating monthly exhibitions by community artists. Exhibits are curated by Miggs Burroughs, a trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport.
