Westport Book Shop Welcomes August Guest Art Exhibitor

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome artist Joanie Landau as its guest art exhibitor for the month of August at the Book Shop's Drew Friedman Art Place.

According to a news release, Landau is exhibiting a collection of digital collagraphs, which combine photographic elements with graphic design techniques.

"Each of my pieces begins with original photography and usually multiple images are used to form a piece. I love working with saturated color, as well as starkly contrasting black and whites," Landau said in a news release. "The digital art experience provides an outlet to be unceasingly creative, continually working and reworking pieces with the click of a mouse. Every new layer or filter creates endless possibilities, tapping into the unlocked potential that exists and providing the feeling that there are no barriers."

Early in her artistic career, Landau became fascinated with collagraphs, a rather obscure form of printmaking. She studied printmaking at the Silvermine School of Art, where she won both the "Rembrandt Award for Excellence in Graphic Art," and the "First Prize Mixed Media" Awards.

Landau's studio has been featured in East Coast Home and her art is featured in numerous publications. She has exhibited in dozens of shows across the country, where she has won several awards. She is a proud member of The Artists Collective of Westport and is represented by interior designers and art consultants.

Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit used book store, is downtown Westport's only source for used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, and other media. It is located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library.

The art exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop's business hours: Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. (closed Mondays). Landau's work will be on exhibit through Aug. 31, 2021.
