Westport Delays Spending On Beach Resiliency Study: Report

Officials will take another approach at funding the effort.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport will look at the possibility of securing grants to help pay for a beach resiliency planning study, following a decision this week by the Board of Finance to delay a vote on funding it, Westport Journal reported.

The Parks and Recreation Department was seeking $205,249 from the board to pay for the study, which Director Jennifer Fava said is needed to help the town prepare for future beach erosion.

Finance board member Danielle Dobin suggested Parks and Rec look at the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Climate Resilience Fund as a possible source of money for the project.
