A Westport doctor's office has been ordered to pay a woman $853,000 in damages for allegedly releasing her medical records.

WESTPORT, CT — A Westport doctor's office has been ordered to pay a Vermont woman $853,000 in damages for allegedly releasing her medical records to a former boyfriend, the Connecticut Post reported. The decision was made by a Superior Court jury Wednesday.
According to the Connecticut Post, the Avery Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology of Westport was found liable for emotional damage suffered by psychiatric nurse Emily Byrne after the former boyfriend allegedly attempted to blackmail her over information in her records.
