Westport Firefighters Battle House Fire: FD
The fire on Weathervane Hill was reported Thursday night, according to authorities.
WESTPORT, CT — Westport firefighters extinguished a house fire Thursday night on Weathervane Hill, according to fire officials.
The blaze was reported at about 11 p.m., and all occupants in the home had safely exited before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters saw heavy smoke from the rear of the home, but flames quickly began to extend through the first floor.

"Despite very heavy fire conditions as the crews entered the house, firefighters were able to control the main body of fire through a coordinated, aggressive attack," said Assistant Fire Chief Brett Kirby in a statement.
Norwalk Fire Department was requested to respond to the scene as a Rapid Intervention Team while Fairfield Fire Department and Wilton Fire Department provided station coverage at Westport Fire Headquarters, according to Kirby.

While no injuries were reported, Westport EMS provided medical support for the occupants, and firefighters and Westport police provided traffic control at the scene. Westport Public Works personnel also responded to provide support and mitigate the extremely icy conditions at the scene.
The Westport Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
