Westport Firefighters Douse I-95 Car Fire
The blaze temporarily shut down two lanes on Tuesday.
WESTPORT, CT — A car fire Tuesday afternoon on I-95 northbound in Westport led to the temporary shut down of two lanes as firefighters battled the blaze.
No injuries were reported in the 1:52 p.m. fire, which occurred in the breakdown lane between exits 17 and 18, according to Westport Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows.
Responding to the call were Engine 4, Engine 5 and Car 3, and crews from the two engines were able to extinguish the fire quickly, wrote Meadows in a statement.

Traffic was diverted by Connecticut State Police and the state Department of Transportation, and the last fire department unit was able to clear the scene at 2:32 p.m.
