Westport PD Investigates Smash-And-Grab Theft At Jewelry Store: VIDEO
Police released surveillance video of the incident; the suspects used small sledgehammers to smash display cases and steal items.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport police are searching for a pair of thieves who used sledgehammers in a smash-and-grab theft Thursday afternoon at the Lux, Bond & Green jewelry store on Main Street. See surveillance video below.
The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. The suspects smashed display cases and stole an unknown amount of jewelry.
"Employees of the store reported two individuals wearing masks and gloves entered the store with sledgehammers and began smashing display cases," wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "The employees safely retreated to the rear of the store and had no interaction with the
suspects."

The theft took less than a minute, and the two suspects ran out of the store south on Elm Street, and were last seen fleeing the area in a black BMW sedan towards Fairfield on Post
Road East.
Westport police are urging anyone who may have information on the suspects to contact the department's Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080.
