SafeRides of Westport’s mission is to keep kids safe in a variety of circumstances when (i) their parents or another responsible party is unavailable to drive them home or (ii) they want a ride home, no questions asked. SafeRides of Westport provides free confidential rides home to any current high school student living in Westport on most Saturday nights. The main purpose of SafeRides is to reduce accidents and save lives. Beyond increasing safety in Westport, SafeRides allows high school teens to become involved in their community through volunteer work.
Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Kiwanis members devote more than 6 million hours of service and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. Kiwanis of Westport also sponsors the Staples Key Club another service club. The Key Club teaches leadership through service to others.

“As this is the 100th year of Kiwanis (founded in 1915), having the Westport chapter sponsor another service organization like SafeRides of Westport felt like a natural extension of Kiwanis. The principals of service to your community through our youth is strong in both SafeRides of Westport and the Key Club so we felt it was the logical next step in growing Kiwanis in Westport.” Said Michael Laux past President of Westport Kiwanis.
