Westport Launches 'Community Connect' Initiative

WESTPORT, CT — The Town of Westport is proud to announce the launch of Community Connect, a new initiative developed in collaboration with technology partner First Due. This innovative application is designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of emergency responses by providing first responders with critical information about residents and their properties during incidents or major disasters.

Community Connect is a secure, user-friendly platform that allows Westport residents to voluntarily share essential household information with emergency service personnel. This information, which includes details such as emergency contacts, functional needs, and pet information, helps first responders to act more swiftly and effectively, ultimately leading to better outcomes during emergencies.

“Community Connect is a valuable tool for our community,” said Fire Chief Nick Marsan. “When responding to a residence, having access to critical details—such as who the primary point of contact is, any special needs of the occupants, or even the presence of pets—can significantly enhance how we manage and resolve the situation. This proactive approach enables us to serve our residents in the most efficient manner when it matters most.”

The application is entirely voluntary, and residents have full control over the information they choose to share. Data entered into Community Connect is protected by the highest security standards and is used exclusively to improve emergency response services. Residents can now create their profiles and start using Community Connect. The Town of Westport is committed to continuously refining the service based on user feedback to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the community.
