Westport Launches Storm Recovery Webpage Following Sept. 13 Flooding

WESTPORT, CT — Westport has launched a storm recovery webpage for residents and businesses affected by the Sept. 13 flooding.

The webpage, at westportct.gov/sept13flood, provides information on assistance, insurance, repairs and town updates. It also includes newly added recovery resources from Human Services and guidance from Planning and Zoning on storm damage repairs and permitting requirements.

"We know many residents and business owners are still cleaning up, dealing with losses and figuring out what comes next," First Selectman Kevin Christie said. "Our goal is to make it easier to find useful information and connect with people who can help."

Resources available on the webpage include the state’s damage survey, which residents and businesses can use to report flood damage and help document the extent of the storm.

The page also provides Connecticut Insurance Department contact information and guidance for those with insurance coverage or claims questions.

Human Services contacts and a downloadable guide provide information on food, housing referrals, financial assistance and other recovery resources.

The webpage also includes town guidance on approvals that may be required before storm repairs or reconstruction begin, along with contact information for Planning and Zoning.

Storm-related news releases and links to sign up for emergency alerts and town news are also available.

Residents and businesses can access the storm recovery page at westportct.gov/sept13flood or through the storm recovery banner and Popular Services button on the town website. Additional town updates will be added as recovery work progresses.

Residents and businesses affected by the flooding are encouraged to complete the state’s damage survey. The survey is not an insurance claim or an application for assistance and does not guarantee aid. Insurance coverage and claims should be addressed separately with an insurance company.
