Westport Library Elects 5 Trustees, Announces Board Officers

New members join the governing body as some leadership roles shift at the popular institution.

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Library has elected five new members to its Board of Trustees and announced its board officers.

The new trustees are Brett Adams, Galen Blumenthal, Tanya Kaur Guleria, Stacey Babson Kaplan and Paul Quinsee. According to the library, the trustees have backgrounds in fintech and applied artificial intelligence, management consulting, strategy and operations, corporate governance and law, and global finance. The library also announced several changes to its board leadership.

Bruce Gaylord was named vice president of governance and nominations, Liza Van Gundy was appointed co-vice president of development, Darcy Travlos was named treasurer, and Ben Chan was appointed vice president of finance after previously serving as treasurer.

Martina Sze was named secretary, transitioning from her previous role leading governance and nominations.

Returning officers include President Robert Boroujerdi, Senior Vice President Krishna Patel and Co-Vice President of Development Mark Silverstein.

The Board of Trustees provides governance, strategic direction and community oversight for The Westport Library.

"Each of these five trustees brings something distinct — the kind of real-world depth that makes a board not just representative, but genuinely useful," Executive Director Bill Harmer said in a statement. "Together they reflect the range of people and perspectives that make Westport such a remarkable community, and I'm looking forward to what we'll build with them."

Brett Adams brings more than two decades of leadership in fintech and AI strategy, with senior roles at Mastercard and Accenture and head-of-product experience at three fintech startups. His work has centered on digital payments, financial inclusion, and applied AI — subjects he also teaches as an Adjunct Professor at Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business. Adams holds degrees from Stanford University, the London School of Economics, and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. A Westport resident and Staples High School parent, he has been active in educational and AI advisory initiatives across Fairfield County, including prior work connected to the Library.

Galen Blumenthal is Managing Principal at SEI - New York, a management and technology consulting firm, where he guides organizations through complex transformations and leads practice expansion and talent development. A Staples High School and University of Texas at Austin graduate, Blumenthal previously served on the board of Staples Tuition Grants. His connection to public libraries runs deep: his first library card came from a Kings Highway School field trip — a moment he credits with sparking a lifelong appreciation for what libraries make possible.

Tanya Kaur Guleria is a strategy and operations leader with more than 15 years of experience across corporate and nonprofit sectors. She has held senior roles at Rent the Runway, Paul, Weiss LLP, and Liberty United, specializing in strategic planning, digital transformation, and large-scale change management. Her nonprofit work with Read Ahead and the Make a Difference Leadership Foundation has focused on educational access and mentorship. Guleria currently serves as a Commissioner on the Westport Fair Rent Commission and holds a B.A. in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College.

Stacey Babson Kaplan is a retired C-suite executive, board director, and attorney with deep experience in governance, risk oversight, and organizational strategy. She served as Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability & Compliance Officer at Terex Corporation (NYSE: TEX), a global industrial manufacturer, where she worked directly with the board on governance, enterprise risk, sustainability, and emerging technology for more than 20 years. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Viatec, an energy technology company, and brings to the Library board a practiced understanding of institutional stewardship.

Paul Quinsee is a Managing Director at JPMorgan Asset Management with more than 40 years in finance. Born in the UK and a Connecticut resident for three decades, he serves on the boards of the Financial Accounting Foundation, the Egmont Foundation USA, and The Southport School, where he chairs the Finance Committee.
