The event "showcases invention, creativity, and resourcefulness in a celebration of the maker mindset in a hands-on environment."

WESTPORT, CT - The fifth annual Mini Maker Faire will be held on April 30 at the Westport Library, beginning at 9:45 a.m., organizers announced.

From the announcement:

Produced by the Westport Library and Remarkable Steam, the event is free and open to the public. The Westport Mini Maker Faire is the first and largest Maker Faire in Connecticut, and the biggest single-day event in the state. Last year, 6,500 people attended this family-friendly faire; this year’s participation is expected to reach 10,000. Makers are all ages and range from technology enthusiasts to crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, artists, science clubs, students, authors and commercial exhibitors.

To celebrate the event’s fifth anniversary, this year’s theme is “five.” Projects that incorporate the number five will be featured along with a record-breaking number of exhibiting makers. Alex Giannini, co-chair of the event, says, “This year’s faire will be, by far, our largest. We have more makers than in any previous year, and we cannot wait to see what incredible stuff they’re bringing!”

Included in the celebration, photos of participants will be taken by professional photographer Pam Einarsen from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of the "Geek the Library" campaign.
