Westport Man Accused Of Taking Money From Elderly Woman: PD

Police said the accused demanded payment from the elderly woman for outdoor electrical work.

WESTPORT, CT — Police said a 38-year-old Westport man is accused of taking money from an elderly woman during an alleged struggle. The incident occurred Aug. 3 at approximately 11:45 p.m., police said.

According to a news release, officers responded to a residence just before midnight on a report of a disturbance. Police said officers learned the suspect, who police said is not allowed inside the residence, arrived and demanded $100 payment from the elderly woman for outdoor electrical work.

"The victim refused and a struggle ensued," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release. "During the struggle, the suspect, Todd Seligson, removed the wallet from the victim’s rear pocket by force and took $1,400 from it before leaving the residence."

Police said officers located the accused at his residence, where he was arrested and charged with robbery, larceny, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
