Westport Man Accused Of Vandalizing Car At Train Station: Police

The suspect was seen on surveillance video "holding what appeared to be a tire iron" near the victim's vehicle, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — A 52-year-old Westport man was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree criminal mischief, a felony, after police said he vandalized a woman's car that was parked at the Saugatuck Train Station last month.

Dominic Demace surrendered to Westport police Tuesday in connection with the Sept. 29 incident.

"The complainant said she parked her car at the Saugatuck Train Station and when she returned that afternoon, she saw a scratch as well as dents on the car’s right rear passenger door," Westport police wrote in a statement. "The investigating officer reviewed surveillance video and saw a male standing near the complainant’s car holding what appeared to be a tire iron. The officer positively identified the male in the video as Dominic Demace."

Additional details about the incident were not disclosed, but Westport police said that Demace "purportedly admitted to vandalizing the car."

Demace was released after posting a $15,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22.
