Westport Man Hospitalized After Accidental Shooting: Report

The incident occurred Thursday morning.

NORWALK, CT — A Westport man was cleaning an old handgun Thursday morning, Norwalk police say, when he accidentally shot himself in the leg, reports The Hour.

The 46-year-old man was able to drive himself to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, which is where staff reported the shooting. His identity was not released, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Westport police were contacted to take over the investigation into the incident.
